Venue: DLF Cyber Hub, Gurgaon | Date: 20th Dec 2015
Italian cuisine has been in for very long and is recourse for many who want a break from the spices of Indian food. Thus, an invite to a blogger’s meet at Italiano on the first floor of the uber cool Cyber Hub sent us to a happy space. Italiano, eponymous to its name, serves Italian food and has two other outlets in Gurgaon at DLF Mega Mall and Phase 3.
A plethora of dishes were served during the meals. The tomato bruschetta as part of the entre’ tasted fresh.
It was a pleasant December afternoon and we were seated on a table outdoors. The owners Mr. and Mrs. Puri joined us over bread baskets and mocktails – Virgin Mary, juices etc.
Mr. Puri mentioned that he did not like Indian food and this had prompted him to explore Italian cuisine that led to this chain of restaurants.
There was an array of salads, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Among these, the Tuscan Salad and the Prawn Salad were, interestingly, served warm. The ingredients had become soft, but had retained their crunch and fresh juices. The mild seasoning added to the overall effect. Good salad options are few and far between and these dishes jolly well qualify for standalone orders!
The salads were followed by pastas, pizzas, grilled fish and, in tune with the Thanksgiving season, a roasted turkey dish. The tomato sauce pasta was a tad oily but the other dishes were just fine.
This magnificent spread ended with Tiramisu and Cheese Cake desserts.
Italiano was a pleasant experience. It managed to stimulate the Italian taste buds in us so much that within the next few days, we went for dinner to Zanotta, another favourite for Italian food.
