Karnataka International Travel Expo (KITE) 2025 is back with its second edition, and we had the privilege of attending the grand inauguration at the iconic Taj West End, Bengaluru. This exclusive B2B travel event, organized by Karnataka Tourism in collaboration with the Karnataka Tourism Society, is set to take place from 26th to 28th February 2025, showcasing Karnataka as a top global tourism destination.

A Grand Opening: Karnataka Welcomes the World

We had travelled from Delhi in the morning and reached Bangalore by noon. The weather here is still much like Delhi – still cool and very pleasant. Hotel check-in, freshening up, and quick charging of gadgets done, we were on our way to the event inauguration venue.

Our ushering ceremony was a surprise. Various enchanting folk dance groups were performing at the entry corridor while we were welcomed with the white and golden Mysuru Pete – the traditional Kannada turban, a matching scarf, and a tricolor garland. Quite different from the colourful turbans we see in North India, we felt special. We entered the auditorium bubbling with anticipation and seated ourselves on the media row. Our timing was perfect since no sooner had we settled in, the chief guest arrived.

The event was inaugurated by Sri. Siddaramaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka with the lighting of the traditional lamp. Also present were Sri H.K Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Legislation, and Tourism, along with other dignitaries and stakeholders from the tourism and hospitality industry. The welcome addresses highlighted Karnataka’s vision for sustainable tourism growth.

Unveiling of Karnataka’s Tourism Policy 2025-2029

One of the biggest highlights of the event was the unveiling of the Karnataka Tourism Policy 2025-2029 by the Chief Minister. He emphasized Karnataka’s potential as a global tourism hub, urging investors, tour operators, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals to collaborate in making Karnataka a world-class travel destination.

“As you look to the future, I call upon all investors, tour operators, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals to join hands with us to make Karnataka a top tourism destination in the world.” – Sri. Siddaramaiah said.

Cultural extravaganza – Karnataka’s Folk Performances

After the official inauguration and the speeches, it was a more relaxed evening. Next up was a cultural extravaganza. This part started on a high note with Karnataka’s vibrant folk dance and music performances, now on stage. Karnataka is still a secret to many of us and the traditional music and dances set the perfect cultural orientation.

After the performances, we went to the dining area. The menu comprised many local specialties we hadn’t tasted before. We met many of our travel media friends and the reunion made the dining experience even more palatable.
