Time flies and we know it. It was just the other day that we would see a huge palace being erected in Gurgaon. The construction site would draw the attention of anyone driving by. In some time, this place transformed into a Bollywood themed entertainment centre and aptly christened “Kingdom of Dreams“. We have spent many a beautiful evenings here with friends and family and absorbed the significance of the name.
After giving us spectacular productions like Zangoora and Jhumroo, the grand auditorium Nautanki Mahal is coming to life with a new genre of entertainment – Theatre on Ice. We were invited to the preview of these shows. The first production is and adaptation of the super lovable fantasy novel by Lewis Caroll, Alice in Wonderland. This theatrical extravaganza is being brought to stage for us by Ice Vision, a troupe from St Petersburg, Russia. Ice Vision has worked with leading music composers like Gennadiy Gladkov and Alexsey Rybinkov and has impressed everyone with their unique performance. The troupe has more than 25 actors and stars and many more technical experts. Alice in Wonderland is meant for kids and kids at heart this holiday season.
For our slightly older friends – teens and adults, they have another production in the offing – Bram Stroker’s vampire tale – the story of eternal love – Dracula. Both the shows run parallely at Kingdom of Dreams this winter for a limited period, about three months. Along with these two plays, they are also staging the famous ‘Arabian Nights’ and ‘Nutcracker and lord of the darkness’ too. For many of us watching a Broadway production is a dream. But KOD has been committed to bringing Broadway like grandeur on stage for the audience in India. So if you want to experience something different over the new year holidays, something grand and western and very Broadway – or just have a pleasant day-out with your family – Theatre on Ice at Kingdom of Dreams could be a unique Fun-Do.
