A beautiful set, excellent actors, a definite story, and very good direction by Sohaila Kapur – A very “Bharat Rang Mahotsav “ play. The story of an attractive manservant and a count daughter – “Ms. Julie” talks about the class divide and the struggle of human beings to get the person they want as their partner. It’s as difficult and complex for a servant as it is for a rich classy woman.

The play had long continuous dialogues but none of the artists faltered even once. Both the lead actors were very attractive and quiet in character.  Special mention to Damandeep Singh who played Jean – What an excellent performance…

The shift of power between Ms. Julie and her servant, pre and post sex was fantastic and brought about nuances of the storyline and direction…  confusing the audience with whom to have sympathy for – the girl or the guy. None of the characters were absolutely white or black. The grayness of the characters made them real and easily relatable.
