Venue: Handloom Haat, Janpath
Date:16th – 29th July, 2017
Teej just got over and Raksha Bandhan is around the corner. In short, we are all getting ready for the festival season for this year. This is the time, to revisit our heritage and culture, have festive fare like Vrat ki thali and wear ethnic clothes. To this end we have already featured Dastkari Haat store in Meherchand Market off Lodhi Road.
A great option to look at handloom items is visiting fairs and exhibitions that keep happening in this season. One such expo is already on at Handloom Haat adjacent to Janpath Metro station.
The exhibition has a host of stalls from all parts of India that bring, amongst others, unique Kantha embroidery and weaves from Bengal, Assam and Andhra Pradesh, block prints from Sangner in Rajasthan and Khadi from Bihar.
There are running fabrics, saris, dresses, kurtas for men and women and shirts that make a unique statement. We particularly loved the kid’s wear that oozed home variety cuteness. They are also selling bed covers, cushion covers and a host of other items for refurbishing the home with Indian textiles during the festival season. Most of the vendors here come from co-operatives and government. Hence it is a hackle free fair price shopping experience.
We are going to cover some more Indian lifestyle in the coming months. Meanwhile, you can drop by at Handloom Expo that is on till July 29th and quick start your festive shopping.
This expo is really awesome, I attend it. It is useful for handloom professionals. Read more about trade fairs or exhibition here
