The Seven Sisters of North East made their presence felt in Delhi. As a part of Delhi Art festival, a four day  North East Festival was held at IGNCA grounds. The sprawling area was decorated with colorful festoons, red dominating. The temporary structures had a lot of bamboo with north east crafts such as decorated farmer’s hats (toka) and Naga spears hung for effects.

The festival comprised of crafts and weaves exhibitions, tourism booths and innumerable food stalls that served the yummiest momos in Delhi. Some of the other food items comprised of pork ribs, bamboo shoot curries and dishes made of black rice.

Additionally there were some stalls that sold handicrafts from other parts of India. In a segregated area, some artists were displaying cartoons on contemporary themes and drawing live portraits.
The turnout was dominated by people from north eastern states although we could see the occasional Delhite getting excited by the food.

A rock concert was part of the program and the performers had the crowds swaying to their music.
It turned out to be a very apt outdoor event for a pre winter afternoon.
