Rang De Basanti Dhaba has moved to a mall in the Sarojini Nagar market. We had liked the experience at their erstwhile outlet at South Ex. We were thinking of visiting this new place when we were presented with a gift voucher by Zomato. This precipitated our visit and we dined here.
We ordered Hariyali Paneer Tikka, Patiala Chicken Tikka and Fish Tikka. The chicken tikka was standard, the fish was frugal. Though the non vegetarians prefer chicken/fish over paneer, but the paneer tikka was the best. The paneer was very fresh and the dish was low on spices, roasted just right and economical. Although they serve half plate, which is helpful, the halves are not value for money.
We ended the dinner with tea that was in the dhaba style served in dhaba kind of glass. Perfect.
The staff was courteous and forthcoming. On request they served us gur (jaggery) with tea.
That said, it was yet to be the FIFA season and so we wonder why the staff was dressed in sports jerseys and denims?? Just didn’t go with the decor or theme of the restaurant.
Final thoughts – the South Ex joint looked better, e.g., the tractor looked stylish there, here it looked redundant.
Long back I tasted the Paneer Tikka of Nathu’s of Gole Market. This post reminds me.
Yeah, Delhi has amazing eating joints in every nook and corner. Nathu’s is just one of those. 🙂
I fully agree.
