Venue: M Block Market, Greater Kailash (GK) 1
Date: 26th Sep 2015
Just like street food is best experienced on streets, mountain cafes are also best suited for mountains. At least this is what our experience was after visiting The Sakley’s at GK 1 market.
We had been to their outlet in Nainital and have fond memories of that place. The ambience there was unpretentious and the food tasted awesome! In fact everything there was awesome, just like the mountains.
But the GK outlet exudes no mountain vibes at all and we found this place to be snobbish. The decor was imposed and the warmth of the Sakley’s in Nainital or even in Gurgaon was missing.
We sat next to the glass window from where we could see the hustle bustle of the market and
an occasional kid playing in the street. We ordered a banana toffee pie along with a hot chocolate and a black coffee. Our beverages were just about ok. In fact we found the hot chocolate to be too sweet and cold and we had to ask them to fix it. Black coffee too left a lot to be desired. The banana toffee pie was super fresh and delicious though the serving was very meagre. It didn’t even last till we finish our coffee.
We had a voucher from Zomato so we didn’t really mind. Otherwise, definitely not value for money.
