Folks who have lived in hostels may recall Sunday was all about a single meal. Given that I would wake up late (as in really late) there wouldn’t be enough time for multiple meals in the morning. Hence breakfast and lunch would be rolled into a brunch, heavy and something nice. Westin Gurgaon has just launched its Sunday brunch and given that we are looking out for brunch options, we just had to try this.

Westin Gurgaon has a long entrance. But once you reach, the brunch area is adjacent to the reception, at the restaurant Seasonal Tastes. Replete with veggies, lean meat, fish and sea food it is an extravagant affair. The soups, host of exotic salads, varieties of cheese and cold cuts sent us in a tizzy. And then there was sushi and some of the best we have had in recent times. This was perhaps luxury summer dining at its best.

In fact, everything that we tried at the buffet, and we could only taste about 30%, was great quality. There we items from American, Thai, Burmese, Chinese and other cuisines. The mind boggling variety of food items ensured that there was something for everybody. They had pizzas and pastas as well. Notwithstanding the foreign influence, the Indian food section carried choicest dishes that were balanced in looks, tastes and flavours. The humble gourd in the Lauki Mussallam avatar had us licking our fingers. We paired our food with wine and beer.

The dessert section deserves special mention. First there were innumerable items combining continental, Indian and fusion desserts. The mousse, cakes, puddings, fondues were as delectable as the jalebis, rabri and other mithai. Not only taste, kudos to the pastry chef for working on the looks of all dessert items. These were a shutterbug’s delight. The cream buns here are some of the best we have had and we can come back just for this item.

The summer brunch can also be enjoyed at the pool side by spending some extra bucks. There are live entertainment and plethora of fun activities for little ones. We were regaled by a small band belting out popular oldies. A few entertainers dressed as clowns amused the kids. Westin Gurgaon seems to have thought of every detail while planning this lavishness.
