The Surajkund International Crafts Mela is a vibrant annual event that showcases the rich tapestry of India’s arts, crafts, and cultural heritage. You may be surprised that Surajkund Mela is the largest crafts fair in the world! As we approach the 38th edition of Surajkund Mela this year, here’s everything you need to know to plan your visit.

Where is Surajkund Mela 2025 Held?

The Surajkund Mela is held in Surajkund, located in the Faridabad district of Haryana, India. Surajkund is in fact at the outskirt of Delhi. This picturesque venue, meaning ‘Lake of the Sun’, also referred in the epic Mahabharat, provides a perfect backdrop for the festivities.

Many years back, before Google Maps era in India, we had asked around in Dilli Haat (LINK) and had got various inputs about Surajkund. With traveller’s spirit, on a leap of faith, we hired a taxi and reached Surajkund in less than an hour.

Dates for Surajkund Mela 2025

Come February, Delhi is on its way to spring. The art and culture scenario of Delhi is at its most active phase this month. Surajkund Crafts Mela is held every year in the beginning of February.

Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2025 is scheduled from February 7 to February 23, 2025. During this fortnight, visitors can immerse themselves in a myriad of cultural and artistic experiences of India and beyond.

How to Reach Surajkund Mela

Given that Surajkund is in the vicinity of Delhi, and between Gurgaon and Surajkund city, it is way more easily approachable than you would have imagined.

By Metro: The nearest metro station is Badarpur on the Violet Line. From there, you can hire an auto-rickshaw or cab to reach the Surajkund Mela grounds.

By Road: Surajkund is approximately 23 km from Delhi. You can drive or take Haryana Roadways and DTC buses available from Delhi, Gurgaon, and Faridabad, to the fair site.

Parking at Surajkund Mela – There are many designated zones around the Surajkund Fair site with expansive car parking facilities.

Theme State for Surajkund International Crafts Fair 2025

In 2025, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh have been selected as the theme states for Surajkund Mela. Odisha and Madhya Pradesh have enormous richness in terms of crafts, handloom, music, dances, arts, and food. Both states have years of history with civilizations ranging from sophisticated royalties to a plethora of tribal belts. Visitors can look forward to experiencing the rich traditions, crafts, and cuisines of these states during the fair.

Partner Countries for Surajkund International Crafts Fair 2025

The 2025 Surajkund Mela will feature countries associated with the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) as partner nations. This includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, bringing their unique artistic expressions and cultural traditions to the event. Most of these countries are present in Surajkund Mela every year. It is indeed exciting to see what more variety of art, craft, and culture they bring forth as partner nations of Surajkund Mela.

What is Special in Surajkund 2025?

The 38th edition promises an unprecedented participation of foreign countries, with over 45 nations showcasing their crafts and cultures. The Mela will feature more than 250 stalls displaying a variety of traditional and contemporary crafts, including textiles, pottery, metalwork, and woodwork. Live demonstrations by skilled artisans will offer insights into their mastery.

Food at Surajkund 2025

The Surajkund Mela also offers a culinary journey through India’s diverse regions. At the food court, known as Haveli, visitors can savour dishes like Rajasthani Dal Bati Churma, Punjabi Makki Di Roti Sarson Da Saag, South Indian Idli Dosa, and Chinese Noodles. Kashmiri Wazwan to Dabeli from Kutch (ANY LINK?), street food favourites such as Chaat, Golgappa, and Kulfi are also available.

While you may carry water, there are many drinking water booths at the Fair ground for you to refill your bottles.

  • Weekdays: INR 120 per person
  • Weekends: INR 180 per person

Discounts

  • 50% rebate on weekdays for school and college students with valid ID cards.
  • 50% discount for senior citizens, differently-abled individuals, and soldiers.

Availability

Tickets can be booked through the Sarathi app of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), at special counters in Delhi Metro stations, and at ticket counters at the fair site.

The Mela is a shopper’s paradise, offering:
