One of the biggest draws of Bangla Mishti Hub is its collection of stalls from some of Kolkata’s most famous sweetmakers. Here, you’ll find:

• K.C. Das: Renowned for inventing the iconic Roshogulla. Yes, their roshogolla is a must-try and the canned variety is better that any canned rasgulla in the market. It makes a sweet takeaway for home.
• Balram Mullick: Known for their traditional sweets and signature items like Aam Doi. While aam-doi (mango yogurt yet not quite like what you would imagine) here is iconic, you can also try the modern innovations that they have made in the area of the sweet Sandesh. This chain is among the foremost to industrialise sweet production and starting an array of outlets across Bengal and elsewhere.
• Bancharam: Famous for their classic Bengali sweets. The softness in their Sandesh is unparallel. Must try would be their giant-size Sankh (conch-shell) Sandesh and their iconic Baked Roshogolla.
• Gupta Brothers: They stand out for offering a variety of confections with a special focus on North India delicacies. Yes, the Bengalis love the pedas and barfis too.

These legendary outlets bring their best sweets to the hub, ensuring that visitors get a taste of the finest Mishti Bengal has to offer. Apart from these, there are other outlets like Haldirams that are famous for their sweets all over India.

What to Eat at Bangla Mishti Hub

Visiting Bangla Mishti Hub around Durga Puja was a treat in itself. The variety of sweets available was overwhelming, and we were spoilt for choice. Some of the sweets we tried included:

• Roshogulla: Soft, spongy, and soaked in syrup.
• Sondesh: In various flavors, including classic and fusion types. Our favourites were Jol Bhara Sondesh (with molten jaggery inside) and Butterscotch Sondesh
• Kheer Puli: A traditional sweet made with rice flour, coconut, and jaggery.
• Baked Roshogulla: A modern twist on the classic Roshogulla, baked to perfection.
• Sondesh Cheesecake: A delightful fusion sweet that combines the best of both worlds.
• Samosa: Some of the confectioners sell snacks and savouries that do not contain onion or garlic. We had to try the Bengali samosa known as Singara. The potato filling in the crispy Bengali samosa has a mild hint of sweetness and overflows with peanuts.

Bangla Mishti Hub also features GI (Geographical Indication) tagged sweets like Joynagarer Moa. This unique sweet is made with Kanakchur khoi (puffed rice) and Nolen Gur (date palm jaggery), giving it a distinct flavor that is synonymous with the Joynagar region.

Shopping at Biswa Bangla Outlet

After indulging in sweets, we did some pre-Pujo shopping at the Biswa Bangla outlet located within Bangla Mishti Hub. Biswa Bangla, one of the crafts emporia run by the Government of West Bengal, showcases a range of traditional Bengali handicrafts, textiles, and souvenirs. It’s a great place to pick up gifts and mementos that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Bengal.

How to Reach Bangla Misti Hub

Reaching Bangla Mishti Hub is straightforward. If you are in Kolkata, you can take a cab or use public transportation to get to Eco Park. The park is well-connected by road and has ample signage to guide visitors to the Mishti Hub. For those driving there is dedicated parking available right outside the food court, making it convenient for families and groups.

Incidentally, this place is not far from Kolkata airport.
