Mughal Gardens at Rashtrapati Bhawan ( President’s Palace) is one of the most beautiful sites in New Delhi. Given that the flora is in full bloom during spring, the Mughal Gardens are opened for visit to general public for about a month this time of the year. A visit to the Mughal Gardens is a beautiful experience that does not cost a penny. But then given that this is a highly sensitive area, there are certain protocol that is strictly followed by Mughal Gardens administration.

Lok Gatha Utsav was a display of the rich heritage of folk music, dance and art in India. IGNCA deftly fused the essentially folk culture festival with the modern. Star performers such as Mohit Chauhan, Hans Raj Hans and Manoj Tiwari also participated in the event.

Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon inaugurated Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth at Sirifort Auditorium Delhi. The week long film festival will be held from 11th to 17th December and includes films, short films, story telling sessions, workshops, games and fun activities for children.

Paryatan Utsav or Tourism Fair organised by the Department of Tourism, New Delhi has been going on since about three weeks. This event is ending with a grand finale on Rajpath that is ongoing between 23-25 October, 2017. The host of stalls, displays and events do nothing but mesmerise the visitor. “Partition – Stories of Separation” – A musical evening by Sonam Kalra
“Partition – Stories of Separation” is a musical program recently held at Bikaner House. This was part of their event “Shared Legacies” that included curated art, fashion, exhibitions, music, dialogues and seminars. Noted Sufi singer and theatre artist Sonam Kalra along with actor and voice talent Salima Raza performed in the event. It was an unusual experience.
SPIC MACAY brings Parveen Sultana and Vishwa Mohan Bhatt
SPIC MACAY, the non-profit organisation promoting classical Indian music, dances, crafts and skills brings master performers for us. The Old Delhi Food Festival – Delicacies from Purani Dilli
The Old Delhi Food Festival was held between 25 to 26 March, 2017 at India Islamic Cultural Centre. The venue was overflowing with diners and people driving down Lodhi Road faced the brunt. Nonetheless, we were happy to manage a parking spot and went in for a taste of famous food from old Delhi without travelling all the way to Chandni Chowk!

India Art Festival 2017
We look forward to India Art Festival that is held during the winter in Delhi. This year it was hosted at Thyagraj stadium. It was a free event and drew substantial footfall apparently from all walks of life.
Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2016
The Ministry of Culture is back with Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav showcasing India’s art, culture, food at the sprawling IGNCA. The grounds have been transformed into an Indian fairyland. The food zone has exotic items from various parts of India. All in all – this event can add another angle to your festival fervor this season.
Touch – Piano Recital by Anil Srinivasan
We attended a piano concert by Anil Srinivasan at Habitat. The pieces that he played were a combination of Western Classical to Carnatic to popular Bollywood numbers. “Touch” was the theme of the evening and accompanying the performance were audio visuals that depicted experiences that had touched the artist.

“As Simple As That” is an Iranian film directed by Reza Mirkarimi. It depicts a common issue – the loneliness of a housewife. The film is a brilliant example of how a mundane every day phenomena can be transformed into a poignant piece of cinematic art. This film was screened in Delhi courtesy Iran Culture House and Habitat Film Club.
