14th Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META), 2019 concluded with a grand awards night. Kamani Auditorium was full to the brim with META team, META jury, actors and theatre lovers to watch this annual extravaganza. The event had a star studded setting what with luminaries from the field of theatre coming together for the love of the art. Ila Arun, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Sushma Seth, Swaroopa Ghosh and many other thespians were on the Red Carpet for the META finale.
BHIMA – English play at META 2017
Mahendra Theatre Excellence Awards (META) 2017 has brought experimental theatre to the fore. One such piece is Bhima, based on the eponymous character of second Pandava in Mahabharat. The 1 hour 10 minutes duration of the play was edge of the seat exciting.
Elephant in the Room – Ganesha as we don’t know him – META 2017
Mahendra Excellence Theatre Awards (META) this year had a host of mind-numbing beautiful plays and the jury would have had a very tough time in selecting the winners. A particularly interesting piece was ‘Elephant in the Room’ a soliloquy created out of an interesting topic. It is a quirky twist to the familiar story of Ganesha’s losing his head due to his father’s wrath and having an elephant head attached instead!
Outcaste – META plays 2017
OUTCASTE was a unique play in Hindi by Randhir Kumar in this year’s META. It represented a traditional genre of Indian theatre that was activist in nature. It involved a huge number of artists who ruled the stage with clockwork precision.

12th MAHINDRA THEATRE FESTIVAL (META), the annual extravaganza of plays by Mahindra Group is about to start at various venue in New Delhi. META recognises the best in Indian theatre every year through their METAWARDS during this theatre festival.
Still and still moving: A feel good play about a relationship and Delhi Metro
“Still and still moving” explores relationship between two men. An author in his 40s and a young college going guy. Along with these two characters Delhi-Gurgaon metro also plays an integral and somewhat comic role in the play.
“Rage and Beyond – Irawati’s Gandhari” – Tale of a Queen who lost all battles
The play depicts the life of Gandhari-The queen with a blindfold and mother of Kauravas, the villains in epic Mahabharata. Presented through Kathak on Guitar, this performance sets the tone for META 2015 (Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards) and we look forward to some great lineup of plays this year.
9 parts of Desire
A part of Mahendra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) which is known to bring quality theatre to theatre lovers, “9 Parts of Desire” fell short of our expectations. Ira enacted the roles of several women who had faced the repercussions of the Iraq war.
