The chatter house is popular pub in South Delhi’s posh Khan Market. We recently visited this place on a Sunday evening.

The Spirit-ual start
The pub was bustling with diners and the bartender was flooded with orders. We took a corner table on the first floor next to the pizza oven and sipped our whiskey and apple based cocktail looking at the chef who was busy making the pizzas.

The Salad with a soul
We loved our chicken ceaser salad and unlike many other places the salad was not dead, covered with a white sheet of cheese, ready to be sadly buried in your mouth. This salad was fresh and alive with veggies, crunchy iceberg, eggs and chicken. The dressing was subtle and didn’t kill the taste of the main ingredients.

The Maincourse – Italian… No Indian… No Continental
We couldn’t resist ordering a Pepperoni Pizza out of habit, which was alright but had room for improvement. It lacked that yummy smell and kick of a typical pizza. We also ordered a platter of blue cheese naan with dal makhni shots. Our server warned us that the blue cheese naan are not for everybody and we may not like the taste. We went against her advise and ordered this. We could see why she warned us and this dish might not be an average Delhi wallas cup of tea. But we love trying different dishes and are in for an experimental Indian continental cuisine once in a while. We loved the bite sized naan. The burnt caramel and nutty flavor of the blue cheese was a good match with the yeasty flavor of the naan. Pineapple bits on the top provided a lovely contrast. We loved every bite of this bread and though daal makhni shots were redundant now, they were yum on their own.

Sweet tooth – No we have sweet teeth – all 32 (or 64) of ’em
The gooey chocolate cake was served with a delicious coffee flavored ice cream. The apple crumble with vanilla ice cream shone through the desserts. The crumble was so delicious that we had to remind each other of sweating out on the treadmill Monday morning. The dreadful visual kept us from ordering a second helping of this dessert.

Are you being served…
The review would be incomplete without mentioning about the prompt service and warm hospitality. Apart from the good food and interesting cocktails, their amazing staff and service standards can be a compelling reason to revisit The Chatter House.
