Surprise can come in all packages. Like So Delhi goodie bag that we got at Sundowner Confluence. Among the other goodies we found a food voucher for The Feast House. This place is near Karol Bagh and as luck would have it, we visited this area soon thereafter. The Feast House is prominently located on the main road. We were little apprehensive about parking but these guys have some parking spots in the ground floor. That believe you us – is a relief.
The spacious seating arrangement on the first floor is a fusion of decor styles. Mild, aesthetic and not pretentious. They had a band – a small group of young men – performing old Hindi favorites in the evening.
The Fat Nacho burger looked quirky – tall like a pyramid – and cool. We spent good time in clicking the plate before trying to eat. That admittedly was a bit of a hassle but when split in two, was manageable. They could have gone a little light on the mayonnaise but the onion rings that came with this were uber tasty. The other dish that we ordered – White Wine Smoked Pasta was tasty with a nice flavour of wine retained in the dish. They could have added some more vegetables though. This would have lent more texture and colour. That said no complaints.
Specially after the lovely cutting chai we had thereafter. The mild flavour of cardamom – very restrained – was soft on the palate keeping the kick of tea intact. Motivated we went for another round of tea – this time with tulsi (basil as we all know by now) and ginger. The freshness of the fused flavours was very exciting and sharpened our senses for the long drive back. What we loved most was that the tea was served in dhaba style glasses on steel plates. Gave a very warm homely feeling and left a lingering impression. The brownies that we had were ok too.
Truth be told, we did not expect much from The Feast House. Yet, everything fell in place that evening. Not an out of the world experience. But thankfully very grounded just as we like it.
We vouch that The Feast House is a true pocket friendly Fun-Do. A West Delhi Cafe that has the feel of a posh South Delhi Cafe.
