The Great Kabab Factory Celebrates 20 Years

Sometimes we have these do-or-die cravings. Like cravings for kababs last Wednesday. This drew us to The Great Kabab Factory at Radisson Blu Marina Hotel, Connaught Place. For one, located on the Outer Circle, this is a super cool location – easily approachable from anywhere. One doesn’t need to plan ahead in terms of transport etc. Secondly, they are celebrating their 20th anniversary and have a special menu. The commemorative menu comprises their most popular kababs over the years. Being suckers for kababs, we just had to check this out.

It was calm since we had reached early. The place was still warming up. So were the kababs. Hence our drinks were served with salad (which is the healthiest way to go of course). The kababs started coming in a while. Thankfully, there was a selection of both vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian so we were not daunted with a thick menu book. We like shorter dinner selections so the assortment worked very well for us.

The kababs came warm just off the stove and we could feel the freshness of the ingredients. We loved the Jaituni Machhi and Nazakati Parda Boti Keema (soft minced meat kababs folded in rumali roti). The fish was soft bhetki perhaps. The mince meat fold was melt-in-the-mouth and good enough as an individual dish. The Khasta Papad Paneer Tikka is also a must have.

After kababs came the main course. While we tend to skip dinner after kababs, we had to make an exception. The main course dishes – Dal Makhani, Dal Awadhi and the Methi Paneer were super tasty. The Methi Paneer was a simple combination of pasted methi leaves with cottage cheese. It was so pleasant on the tongue, like a palate cleanser. Talking about palate cleansers, they served a lemon chuski between kababs and main course. This was tasty and fun and did its job well.

Their breads deserve special mention. The sweetish Bakharkhani, more like Sheermal, was extremely well made. Mildly sweet, it balanced the spices in many dishes. Also, their naans were well cooked, thin, yet substantial and easy to tear and eat. These were some of best naans we have ever had.

They also served a host of desserts and if you have any appetite left, try some. Except the Aloo ka Halwa, which we just could not get our head around, the other desserts Gulaab kheer and Thandai phirni were nice. They also served paan when we were leaving. What a lovely way to end an Indian meal! Did we mention the live ghazal ensemble? The good singers sang some songs that we requested and made us very happy.

To sum it up, it was a great experience. While we had gone for kababs, it was the main course that took us by surprise. We were floored. The birthday menu at the The Great Kabab Factory is on till 31st August 2018. Offer valid at all TGKF outlets at Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi, Radisson Blu Marina Connaught Place, MGF Mall Saket, Sector 18 Noida, Radisson Noida and Park Plaza Gurgaon. We have ample public holidays this month; just go and indulge your taste buds with some good North Indian fare.
