We are huge fans of The Potbelly since we tried their Shahpur Jat outlet. They have turned Bihari cuisine on its head and have introduced Delhites to an unparalleled gastronomical experience. We don’t know of any other outlet in Delhi that serves well conceptualized tasty Bihari cuisine in such a cool looking environment.
When we went to their Chankyapuri outlet which is located inside Bihar Niwas we were pleasantly surprised to see that the interiors of this outlet was even better than the Shahpur Jat one.
Simple decor with a glass wall facing a lush green lawn and a very relaxed ambiance makes The Potbelly an anytime – any occasion dine out option.
We started by ordering our all time favorite Baggiya Basket which is rice flour dumplings served with tomato and coriander chutneys. This was a little spicy but definitely yummy. For main course we took a Makhana Thali that comprised of green spinach pooris, a pea and makhana (lotus seeds) curry and a bowl of mashed potato and aubergine. This was also served with small helpings of chutneys that only enhanced the taste of an already awesome platter.
We ended this beautiful lunch with a slice of cake and masala tea. These were also as tasty as the overall lunch.
The Potbelly has everything going for them, be it quality and taste of food, decor or their superb service. Undoubtedly one of our favourite places to dine in Delhi.
