Whether it’s your best friend’s wedding or someone from the office tying the knot, a lehenga is a perfect attire to don in such functions. - Opt for pastels – Pastels look lovely as it is! But when you wear them in the form of layered fabrics like that of lehengas, they look awesome. You can go for a combination of light pastel shades like peach, pink and purple and match this lehenga with light floral jewellery. Once you wear a pencil heeled sandal with it, you can bet you will look the loveliest in the event you attend wearing this lehenga.
- With a long shrug –Shrugs are versatile attires that tend to change the final look of any dress you wear them with. The same thing goes when you pair your lehengas with a shrug. We suggest- you opt for long shrugs on your lehenga with a contrasting shade so that it looks like a jacket over the dress. But remember to skip the dupatta in such a case so that the beauty of both the lehenga and the shrug is easily visible to the onlookers.
- Lehengas with heavy worked dupatta — There is no rulebook saying that your lehenga or its blouse should always be heavily worked. You can easily opt for a very light fabric and simply plain lehenga for the function you are going to attend. But just to give it an elegant look, we can pair it with a heavily worked or embroidered dupatta. There are also dupattas in zardozi and mirror work which look really superb on lehengas for the wedding functions.
- With statement jewellery – No matter what kind of wedding you are going to attend, wearing a lehenga without jewellery is just not happening. But if you really want to look very sophisticated and truly feminine, you can pair your lehenga with statement jewellery. This might include a long necklace or a heavy bandhgala with large earrings and dozens of bangles with it. You can also wear a maang tikka that intensifies the traditional look even more.
With the right shoes –You just couldn’t make a mark on the onlookers if you are not wearing your lehenga with the right pair of shoes. Yes, you need to look extremely sexy but truly comfortable and balanced while you are walking around in the wedding function wearing this attire. We suggest we go for pumps and heels when you wear a traditional dress like lehenga. The color might be the same or contrasting and the patterns are innumerable to choose from.
That is so cool! I’ve never known what those are called, but I’ve always thought they were so beautiful in pictures.
Glad you think so 🙂
Great shoes and accessories always make the outfit. I love these tips.
Totally agree on the jewelry. This attire screams for jewelry to finish it off! Thanks for the tips.
Pleasure 🙂
Oh my! What a beautiful piece of clothing. I can understand why folks would want to wear it to a great celebration, like a wedding!
It is rather like the gown, only more ornate!
Oh, I thought there is culture appropriateness involved in wearing these things. I always read about this. Are you referring to an Asian-custom wedding?
Indians outfits are pretty flexible – like pretty and flexible and versatile so enjoy your pieces 🙂
So beautiful I love the way you explained it!
Pleasure 🙂
Thos guide is really good for me as I struggle with wearing lehenga most often 😅
Good that you find it useful 🙂
I absolutely love Lehengas with long shrugs but I’m a bengali so I prefer saree with elegant, simple jewellery the most. This article reminded me one of my friends is getting married soon…
All the points are helpful. I love lehengas in pastel colours rather than the traditional ones.
Also jewellery matters a lot.
