Venue: Greater Kailash (GK) 1, N Block Market
Date: 27th November, 2015
Striker is a known name for pub and brewery in Delhi NCR. Adda by Striker is one of the famous joints in Gurgaon and it has garnered a good name for itself. We came to know about their newly opened GK 1 outlet when we recently received an invite for a Zomato Meetup here.
It’s located at the N Block market that we mostly avoid because of parking woes. This time parking was a smooth sailing and luckily the outlet was pretty close to the parking. The place is small, cosy and split in three levels. Rooftop looks beautiful and can be a choice for people looking for romantic dates.
The Meetup commenced with a few cocktails and some finger food. Among cocktails, we had Sex on the Beach and Bloody Mary. We have had better Bloody Mary at lesser known places and Sex on the Beach was excessively sweet. Also, the starters were a little too greasy for our liking. Still some of the snacks stood out, example, the Lamb Galouti Kebabs. These were tender and the flavours were balanced. From vegetarian starters, Kurkure Veg Rolls looked smashing but tasted average. The Jalapeno Quesadillas were nice and filling. Maggi is back and so are experiments with it. They made a fusion dish with Maggi noodles and butter chicken gravy. No, we didn’t like it.
Along with Italian and Mexican cuisine, their menu has a long list of desi and fusion stuff. The main course was predominantly North Indian. On their special Zomato Meetup menu they had Dal Makhani, Paneer Makhani and a gravy chicken dish along with naan. Wedding season was still on and we were totally bored with these dishes. We just tasted them and moved to dessert.
They served Choco Mud Pie and Tres Leches Cake for dessert. The desserts were A++ and saved the evening for us. Especially the pie, loaded with chocolate, nuts and what not was what foodie dreams are made of.
Along with food and mingling with fellow foodies, what made this Meetup a little different was the fact that the head bartender Mr. Neel joined us and narrated interesting stories about how some of the commonly known cocktails got their names. We don’t buy all of what he said, but this was cool.
Though it was a decent experience, we must add that the service was terribly slow and the waiters were mostly lost. Striker guys must pull up their socks in this department.
