SUMMARY:Tyeb Mehta: Bearing Weight
DESCRIPTION:The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) presents Tyeb Mehta: Bearing Weight (With the Lightness of Being)\, a landmark exhibition celebrating the birth centenary of Tyeb Mehta\, one of India’s most influential modern artists. Presented in collaboration with the Tyeb Mehta Foundation and Saffronart Foundation\, and curated by Roobina Karode\, the exhibition marks the first-ever comprehensive retrospective of the artist. \nFollowing a prelude at ART MUMBAI 2025\, the exhibition expands at KNMA\, New Delhi\, into a full-scale exploration of Tyeb Mehta’s life and artistic practice. Featuring over 120 works\, the exhibition spans paintings\, drawings\, sculptures\, film\, and rare archival material\, many of which have seldom been exhibited. \nThe retrospective brings together some of Mehta’s most iconic series\, including Falling Figure\, Falling Bird\, Bull\, Diagonal\, Kali\, and Mahishasura\, reflecting his response to conflict\, myth\, and the human condition in post-independent India. The exhibition also presents Mehta’s short film Koodal\, a powerful meditation on life\, death\, and symbolic roles of humans\, animals\, and deities. \nEnriching the narrative are rare archival materials such as early studies\, notebooks\, photographs\, and historic exhibition documents\, offering fresh insights into Mehta’s creative process and legacy. \nEvent Details:Exhibition Dates: 5 February – 30 June 2026Days Open: Tuesday to Sunday (Closed on Mondays and National Holidays)Time: 10:30 am – 6:30 pmVenue: Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA)\, Saket\, New DelhiCurated By: Roobina Karode

SUMMARY:DAG Presents ‘Faces and Facets: Satyajit Ray in Colour’ in Delhi
DESCRIPTION:DA rare and intimate look at legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray comes alive in Faces and Facets: Satyajit Ray in Colour\, an ongoing exhibition at DAG\, New Delhi. The exhibition brings together a remarkable collection of colour photographs captured by celebrated photographer Nemai Ghosh\, offering audiences a chance to see Ray beyond the iconic black-and-white imagery usually associated with him. \nSpread across photographs taken over nearly 25 years\, the exhibition captures Ray at work\, in conversation\, sketching\, directing\, writing\, travelling\, and quietly observing the world around him. These images move beyond documentation and instead feel deeply personal—revealing the warmth\, atmosphere\, and everyday textures of the filmmaker’s creative universe. \nNemai Ghosh first met Ray during the shooting of Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne in 1968\, and over time became one of the closest visual chroniclers of the auteur’s life and cinema. The exhibition highlights this artistic relationship through rare colour photographs that showcase not just the filmmaker\, but also the moods\, spaces\, and process behind his films. \nFor cinema lovers\, photographers\, and admirers of Satyajit Ray\, the exhibition offers something quietly special—a slower\, more human portrait of one of India’s greatest filmmakers. \nExhibition Details:\nExhibition: Faces and Facets: Satyajit Ray in Colour\nVenue: DAG\nDates: 9 May 2026 – 4 July 2026\nTimings: Monday to Saturday\, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM\nArtist/Photographer: Nemai Ghosh

SUMMARY:Lived-in Skin: Textile as Armour as Memory - Exhibition on Cloth\, Memory\, and Material Histories
DESCRIPTION:Delhi’s contemporary art circuit welcomes Lived-in Skin: Textile as Armour as Memory\, a group exhibition that brings together the works of artists Sabeen Omar\, Meenakshi Nihalani\, and Anshu Singh. Hosted at LATITUDE 28 in Defence Colony\, the exhibition reflects on how textiles hold memory\, labour\, inheritance\, migration\, and emotional histories within their surfaces. \nThrough practices rooted in weaving\, stitching\, layering\, and material accumulation\, the exhibition examines cloth not merely as fabric\, but as witness\, archive\, and emotional residue. The featured works explore how garments and woven forms carry traces of displacement\, survival\, repair\, and intergenerational knowledge\, creating deeply personal yet politically resonant narratives. \nEach artist approaches textile differently\, yet their practices intersect through themes of familiarity and estrangement\, preservation and fragility\, memory and transformation. The exhibition foregrounds the emotional and cultural weight embedded within material surfaces\, inviting viewers to reflect on the intimate relationship between fabric\, body\, and lived experience. \nFor audiences interested in textile-based contemporary art\, material storytelling\, and experimental artistic practices\, Lived-in Skin offers a thoughtful and layered gallery experience in the heart of Delhi. \nExhibition Details:\nExhibition: Lived-in Skin: Textile as Armour as Memory\nArtists: Sabeen Omar | Meenakshi Nihalani | Anshu Singh\nVenue: LATITUDE 28\nB-74\, Ground Floor\, Block B\, Defence Colony\, New Delhi – 110024\nExhibition Dates: 30 May till 25 June 2026\nTimings: Monday to Saturday | 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM

SUMMARY:When Objects Speak - A Group Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Art Alive Gallery Presents ‘When Objects Speak’ Featuring Works by Anjaneyulu G and Vipul Rathod \nArt Alive Gallery in Delhi is set to present When Objects Speak\, a group exhibition bringing together the works of artists Anjaneyulu G and Vipul Rathod. The exhibition explores how everyday objects carry emotional\, historical\, and metaphorical significance far beyond their practical function\, transforming familiar material forms into vessels of memory\, identity\, aspiration\, and lived experience. \nThrough two distinct yet deeply connected artistic practices\, the exhibition examines the emotional afterlives of objects and the stories they quietly accumulate over time. While Anjaneyulu G creates hyper-realistic renderings that isolate ordinary objects within contemplative and emotionally charged spaces\, Vipul Rathod works with intricate assemblages of miniature papier-mâché forms that transform commonplace artifacts into poetic reflections on personal memory and contemporary life. \nTogether\, the artists create a visual dialogue between preservation and transformation\, inviting viewers to reconsider objects not as passive possessions\, but as active participants within human narratives. The exhibition reflects on how material surfaces absorb traces of memory\, attachment\, displacement\, and aspiration\, turning the familiar into something reflective and emotionally resonant. \nFor audiences interested in contemporary art\, material culture\, realism\, and conceptual storytelling through objects\, When Objects Speak offers a layered and thought-provoking gallery experience in Delhi. \nExhibition Details \nExhibition: When Objects Speak\nArtists: Anjaneyulu G | Vipul Rathod\nPreview: Saturday\, 30 May 2026 | 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM\nVenue: Art Alive Gallery\, S-221\, Panchsheel Park\, New Delhi \nExhibition Dates: On view until 3 July 2026\nTimings: Monday – Saturday | 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM

SUMMARY:Indigenous Accents - a solo exhibition by Raj Kishore Gupta
DESCRIPTION:Bikaner House will present Indigenous Accents\, a solo exhibition by Chandigarh-based artist Raj Kishore Gupta\, bringing together a significant body of work that reflects his long-standing engagement with indigenous visual traditions from across the world. Curated by Uma Nair\, the exhibition also marks the inaugural presentation of the Raj Kishore Gupta Foundation\, established by Aashita Gupta. \nCreated during the Covid pandemic\, the exhibition explores the artistic and cultural connections between indigenous traditions from India\, Africa\, and Australia. Drawing inspiration from practices such as Warli\, Gond\, Phulkari\, Pahadi\, African\, and Australian Aboriginal art\, Gupta’s works examine themes of land\, memory\, storytelling\, community\, and cultural continuity that transcend geographical boundaries. \nA distinctive aspect of Gupta’s practice is his relationship with material. Working across resin\, live-edge wood\, tree trunks\, wooden beams\, and unconventional surfaces\, he treats wood not merely as a canvas but as an active collaborator. The natural grain\, contours\, knots\, cracks\, and textures of the material become integral to the final artwork\, creating works that exist between painting\, sculpture\, and object-making. \nThe exhibition also reflects on concerns that have shaped Gupta’s artistic journey for more than four decades. From his early training in printmaking in Chandigarh to his continued experimentation with texture\, pattern\, and materiality\, the works reveal an artist deeply engaged with process\, craftsmanship\, and cultural memory. \nAdding another dimension to the exhibition\, visitors will also be able to view a series of portraits of the artist by acclaimed photographer Avani Rai\, offering an intimate glimpse into the life and practice behind the artworks. \nExhibition Details \nExhibition: Indigenous Accents\nArtist: Raj Kishore Gupta\nCurator: Uma Nair\nVenue: LTC Gallery\, Bikaner House\, New Delhi\nDates: 2 July – 6 July 2026 \nLocation Map

SUMMARY:Weave The Future 4.0
DESCRIPTION:Weave The Future 4.0 Returns to Delhi with a Focus on Upcycling\, Sustainability and Circular Fashion \nDelhi’s growing community of conscious consumers\, designers\, artisans\, and sustainability advocates can look forward to the return of Weave The Future 4.0 – Upcycling Edition\, a unique platform dedicated to reimagining textile waste through creativity\, innovation\, and sustainable design. The event will take place at Dilli Haat\, INA\, bringing together practitioners and brands working at the intersection of fashion\, craft\, circularity\, and environmental responsibility. \nPart of the broader Weave The Future initiative\, the platform focuses on promoting sustainable textile practices and encouraging conversations around responsible consumption\, upcycling\, material literacy\, and circular design. Previous editions have highlighted the role of traditional crafts\, handlooms\, regenerative practices\, and innovative approaches to reducing textile waste while supporting artisan-led ecosystems. \nThe 2026 Upcycling Edition is expected to showcase creative interventions that transform discarded textiles and surplus materials into products\, artworks\, and design solutions with renewed purpose. Through exhibitions\, demonstrations\, interactive experiences\, and participation from sustainability-focused brands and creators\, the event aims to inspire visitors to rethink the lifecycle of clothing and materials. At a time when the fashion industry is increasingly examining its environmental footprint\, Weave The Future serves as a platform for dialogue around circular fashion\, conscious design\, and the value of extending the life of materials through repair\, reuse\, and reinvention. For anyone interested in sustainable fashion\, handcrafted design\, textile innovation\, and environmental awareness\, this promises to be one of Delhi’s more thought-provoking creative events of the season. \nEvent Details \nEvent: Weave The Future 4.0 – Upcycling Edition\nDates: 12 July – 17 July 2026\nVenue: Dilli Haat\, INA\, New Delhi
