There is not much to do with the children is a pet peeve that we hear among Delhi parents. Barring the few play places in malls, there is little on offer in terms of variety. Krackerjack Karnival fills this lacuna albeit for two days.

During 19-20 December, JLN Stadium was transformed into a 100% kidzone with play areas, DIY booths for bigger children, colourful festoons and stage with fun background, photo booths, shops selling children items, flurries falling on visitors in the Himalayan stall, cup cakes with fun motifs and a food court with a bunch of stalls.

Aesthetically designed with colourful themes, the whole place looked like a fairy land, and true to the name, had a carnival feel.

Kids hopped from one zone to another, parents in tow, trying to cover everything on offer. The rides section seemed to be the most popular attraction with children finding it hard to choose among the rides.

The cartoon characters – Chhota Bheem, his friends, Doraemon and others had come to life and were available for meet and greet to their thrilled little fans.

The parents were also not far behind on the excitement meter and many adults were equally pleased to participate in games and to click selfies with cartoons.

They also had programs that included performances by Chhota Bheem and a walk with the dinosaurs. Quiz shows, puzzles, magic shows and workshops were thrown in to make the event more attractive.

The whole carnival stopped and watched in awe when an army band marched through the fair.

In tune with the season, there were bits and pieces of Santa everywhere and it seemed that Christmas had an early start in Delhi.
