Venue: Janpath

This must be our longest pending review. We visited Lutyen’s Cocktail House with a bunch of foodie friends on a Zomato invite. On our way, Google maps was a little more confused than us about the location, so we switched it off and had to call the restaurant for help. It turned out that it was on Janpath above the Jaguar showroom and the entry is from the side lane. One can park anywhere on the lane as they do not have a dedicated parking area.

The decor is simple and easy on eyes, though we were expecting more of Lutyens Delhi look for some reason. Nevertheless we sat close to the bar on these high stools and had a couple of their signature cocktails – Apple Cigar and Perfume. Apple Cigar was one fantastic cocktail – whiskey based, strong and smokey and not at all for folks who like sugary beverages. Perfume – a peach and rose wine based cocktail, looked amazing but was a bit too sweet for us.

From the starters and main course we remember having chicken croquets, wasabi prawns and meatballs. We also had stuffed chicken, mutton chop and seafood paella and most of the stuff was nice. But we kept waiting to get wowed and this didn’t happen with any of the food items.

We had tiramisu and lemon meringue pie for desserts and we liked these. The plating was very cool – just like other dishes they served these on a stone plate with some sprinkled chocolate powder design. Interesting!

All in all a decent experience, we would recommend Lutyen’s Cocktail House for their drinks more than their food. We will remember Apple Cigar for long and are definitely coming back for this.
