(National Cultural Festival of India)
Venue: IGNCA, Man Singh Road near India Gate
Date: 15 to 24 October 2016

The IGNCA grounds are back to life. A magnificent gate welcomes you to this year’s edition of the RASHTRIYA SANSKRITI MAHOTSAV. The sprawling lawns of IGNCA have been aesthetically transformed into a stunning and crafty fair ground. The fair area is divided in pavilions depicting various parts of India. Each pavilion is decorated with themes of that region.

The pavilions carry stalls selling handicrafts and handloom items of the states of India. There are performers rendering various folk arts by way of impromptu performances.

We specially wish to mention the huge food court that has been setup. There are innumerable stalls selling food from all over India. Some of the items are really exotic and different from what we normally get in Delhi. The area is partially covered and there are some tables and chairs for the diners. Additionally this area is laid with carpets for people who wish to sit on the ground and eat.

At the other end of IGNCA there is a grand stage that has been erected for Indian cultural programs. Folk artists, traditional dancers and musicians as well as celebrity artists are performing every evening. Last year we had heard the celebrated Sufi artists – the Wadali brothers sing on the last evening. Sitting in the open in a packed house, it was an experience that we would cherish forever. This year the show stopper is – yeah – Daler Mehendi performing at Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2016 on one of the days.

If you want a little variety in your Diwali shopping – or a break from it – you can consider visiting the RASHTRIYA SANSKRITI MAHOTSAV 2016 and do the traditions in a slightly different manner this festival season.
