The Grub Fest in Delhi

Mar 21, 2017 | Eating out, Festivals, Food

Venue:
JLN Stadium
Date: 17-19 March 2017

The Grub Fest, apparently India’s biggest food festival, came back to Delhi NCR once again this 17th – 19th March. To keep Delhites well fed and entertained, the festival brought together some of the most popular restaurants offering their signature drinks and dishes over some music, dance, games and contests.

The venue this time was Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in the heart of South Delhi and the onset of spring was perfect for daytime as well as evening activities. It is therefore no surprise that The Grub Fest evoked a lot of excitement, Testimony to this are the number of responses that we got to our Twitter contest.

The overall ambiance of the festival was youthful, vibrant and energetic. Apart from pop ups of new and established restaurants, the whole area had mixology workshops, movies and oh so popular selfie zones, among which a rickshaw decorated with marigold flowers was a big hit with youngsters. We enjoyed some live music by a young band who performed a melange of Indian and western numbers. RJ Melbin of Radio One with his dance contest was also among the crowd pullers. Among the biggies, Bally Sagoo and Hari n Sukhmani performed in the evening.

Our favorite beer brand Witlinger was the official Pouring Partner of The Grub Fest. We have been big fans of Witlinger beer since its launch in India and end up enjoying their varieties of beer or beer based cocktails whenever we catch up with friends or even at a fashion show where Witlinger was the key sponsor.

Witlinger’s latest initiative #NowRolling has a strong connect with beer lovers and they engaged with the visitors of this popular food festival as an official partner. The Witlinger Craft Beer at The Grub Fest was a big hit among foodies and beer fans. We enjoyed chilled Witlinger Lager at Bunta Bar pop up and it was perfect for this sunny afternoon of grubbing, live performances and hanging out with friends.

We spent a good 2-3 hours at The Grub fest and it set the ball rolling for our Weekend Fun Dos. We look forward to the next edition of The Grub Fest in Delhi NCR.
