We always had high hopes from NSD’s Bharat Rang Mahotsav  but this one surpassed all our hopes. Utsushi – a piece from Sankai Juku is a whole new way of creative expression telling stories untold before, creating scenes we haven’t witnessed before… Its almost like an art show in motion, abstract and surreal.

We witnessed a role reversal of sorts. Statues started moving all of a sudden, leaving us spellbound and static like statues…. creating a paradox… are we watching them… or they are watching us in our static, wide eyed, jaw dropping moment.

We have never experienced the kind of applause this performance received. The audience was unstoppable. One of the artists had to create a hand gesture to ask people to stop clapping.
