Barff – A play directed by Saurabh Shukla
“Barff” was debuted during the recently concluded Bharat Rang Mahostav. On popular demand it had an additional show. Directed by Saurabh Shukla this Hindi play had a starry cast – Vinay Pathak, Sadia Siddique and Sunil Palwal. Its is a one hour forty minutes production, and we happened to watch this on a rainy Sunday in Delhi.
Mediterranean March at NYC Radisson Blu Plaza – Delhi
Radisson Blu at NH-8 has this awesome Sunday brunch and for this month they have gone Mediterranean with some Indian and Chinese items to cater to all. Tackling the salads, starters, soups, main course and dessert require some strong tummy. If you are coming for this, make sure you haven’t skipped the morning exercise.
Cocoa on the Vine
We did not think much about wine and chocolate being complementary items. But Art Chocolat | Academy of Chocolate Arts had invited us to a session of tasting and pairing wine and chocolate. This was a new thing that we did and it sure was fun!
Ancient Barbeque
The dining sector is expanding like wild fire in Gurgaon. We recently lunched at Ancient Barbeque near South City II, Gurgaon and went for the set menu – unlimited starters, Indian buffet main course and desserts. The Kebabs – Biryani – Sewaiayin were totally worth the drive.
Jashn-e-Rekhta – Celebrating Urdu
Jashn-e-Rekhta was organised by Rekhta.org to celebrate the Urdu language among the Delhi NCR urbanites. They had a line up of plays, music and other performances, art, crafts and food that could be linked to the Urdu culture. Celebrities were in attendance either as performers or as patrons. We had a media invite for this event, which otherwise went rather unnoticed.

“The Coalition-Festival of Creativity” was held in Delhi and we saw new age celebrities like AIB, Anurag Kashyap, Richa Chaddha and so on holding talk sessions and workshops. We were invitees and learnt a thing or two.

Udupi Sai Sarovar at Central Market, Lajpat Nagar is not an oft discussed place in foodie circuits. We wonder why! This is our go-to place for vegetarian food and they have recently revamped the restaurant. The place has become even better.

OTB is located strategically at the upscale sector 29 food hub in Gurgaon. As part of a reviewer meetup we visited this place and it left us unimpressed. To think out of the box one should first look inwards.
Aligarh – A professor who couldn’t take any more lessons from life
The recent release of Hansal Mehta’s film Aligarh has been fraught with controversies – be it issues raised by the Censor Board or the touchy regional sentiments. Given that there is no star cast – glamorous actors – foreign local – fights or even a shaadi, we were not sure how long this would last in the cinema halls and watched this at the first opportunity. We are glad we did!
Sweet Obsession – Not so sweet experience
Deserts are de rigueur for any celebration. Ordering-in makes life a little convenient. We recently ordered a birthday cake from Sweet Obsession, a popular bakery. We learnt about the pitfalls of ordering desert delivery in this process.
Antigone – Bengali play
Antigone, the Greek tragedy was presented at Kamani Auditorium at Bharat Rang Mahotsav. This is a socio-political play that is relevant given the mindless violence that we see around us. Socio-political theatre is not very common on Delhi NCR stages. Hence, braving the Tuesday evening peak hour traffic, we made it a point to watch this play.
