India On My Plate, a part of Fortune Select Excalibur, Sohna Road has recently put up a lot of hoardings that got us curious. This was obviously before the rain disaster in that area and we visited this restaurant for brunch on a recent Saturday. Do try to get a table beside the glass wall since it offers a nice view.
Buffets are good for people who liked variety in a meal. The trick is to sift through the elaborate spread and pick items of ones liking. Since there is always something for everyone in the party, we like buffet meals. We recently visited Asia Alive at DoubleTree by Hilton Gurgaon to try out their buffet.
Tea and rains go hand in hand. We have been targeting Just for Chai for a while now. We were in the vicinity of Golf Course Road the other day and used this opportunity to check out this place.

We had decided to watch a documentary at India Habitat Centre last Saturday evening. Therefore, we chose Ping’s Café Orient, that is walkable from IHC, as our lunch venue.
Our exploration for new tea places continues. Being huge fans of Wagh Bakri tea lounges, we recently visited their outlet at GK. Tea is our “chicken soup for the soul” and hence we did not mind the extra drive to reach this place. Located in the GK M Block Market, this place needs a little bit of figuring out. Sunder Nagar is a little off the way for us. But when we were told about this new resto-bar Number 8 in the rather sleepy Sunder Nagar, we thought it was worth a shot. Hence, to ring in the last weekend, we decided to visit this place and put up a review.
Monsoon is finally here. Everybody has his own style of enjoying this short stretch of heavenly weather every year. Informal, a café at Janpath has introduced Monsoon Specials. Informal is an outlet by the guys who own Imperfecto. Given our great experience at Imperfecto, we decided to visit Informal and try their offerings of Monsoon.
Whiskey is one of the most popular beverages in North India. There are various styles in which connoisseurs enjoy their whisky – with soda, without soda but punched with a soft drink or just neat. The WelcomHotel Sheraton in association with the celebrity bartender Shatbhi Basu organised an American Whiskey and Tapas evening. We were invited and had a unique experience.
The North Campus area has sprouted countless restaurants in the GTB Nagar area. We have tried quite a few of them and are frankly impressed. The ambiance, the service and most important – the food keep bringing us back here. Most of them serve vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. And this may be a deterrent for some diners who are not comfortable eating at joints serving non-vegetarian. This one is for them and for anyone who fancies sumptuous food of the vegetarian variety.
We have visited Junkyard Café at the Rajouri outlet. They have recently opened an outlet in the snazzy malls area at Saket.
Chinese food is one of the first eating out options that Indians adopted and moulded according to their taste buds. Its popularity ensures that it finds a place in the menus of 5 star hotels to the roadside vans. China Garden is a Chinese restaurant in Delhi with heritage. Given its popularity we decided to dine here recently.
It’s the last days of Ramadan – the month of fasting and feasting for Muslims around the globe. We in Delhi NCR live up to Id-ul -fitr and visit the Jama Masjid area to soak in the festival spirit. There are lots of dining – shopping – dessert options mostly on the fairy lights illuminated and festooned road opposite to Jama Masjid. We tried some new activities during our Ramzan food trail 2016.
Gurgaon’s Sector 29 market is ever expanding in terms of eating / drinking options. The more the merrier we say. The flip side is one is really undecided about the right place to patronize in this area. Sense of Spirits is a relatively new place here and we dropped in on a sultry Saturday afternoon to feed our hunger and quench our thirst.
Ramadan opens up the taste bud for any foodie worth his salt. The Jama Masjid area sees a lotto buzz not only from the Muslim community but Mughlai food lovers from all over the place. While Karim’s at Jama Masjid is perhaps the most popular restaurant, we wanted an alternative. For Ramzan 2016, we dined at Al Jawahar, just ahead of Karim’s.
It is debatable whether beer qualifies as alcoholic beverage. But there are very few substitutes that provide satisfaction on a muggy summer day. We recently came across a new brand – Whitlinger beer. We tried their wheat ale – all chilled – and are happy to blog about the experience 🙂
