The Ministry of Culture is back with Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav showcasing India’s art, culture, food at the sprawling IGNCA. The grounds have been transformed into an Indian fairyland. The food zone has exotic items from various parts of India. All in all – this event can add another angle to your festival fervor this season.
Colorama by Art Tree is a display of pieces of painting and sculpture at the foyer of Vivanta by Taj, Dwarka. The exhibition is on from 17th September 2016 to 17th February 2017. We were invited to the opening evening for art viewing over wine and cheese. Some of the artists were also available that evening for interacting with the guests.
BRICS co-operation expands to various areas of socio economic activities of the member countries. As part of the BRICS movement, the 1st BRICS Film Festival is being held at Sirifort Auditorium. World cinemas from all the member countries are screened during multiple shows throughout the day. Alongside food from these countries, handicrafts are also on display.
Triveni Kala Sangam has an open stage with grass covered steps as the seating area. The simplicity of this arrangement was very enticing and we yearned to see a program here. During one of our recent visits to the Terrace Cafe we by chance came across a Bharatnatyam recital by the students of Jayalakshmi Eshwar . Our wish was fulfilled.

The four day Iranian film festival that the Directorate of film festivals, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting organized at Sirifort Auditorium celebrates the long history of cultural sharing between India and Iran. Iranian cinema has a documentary feel to it. Bereft of any effort to window dress or glamourise a plot, sets or casts, it is an authentic portrayal of the lives, dreams and aspirations of the average Iranian. We therefore find Iranian films most alluring.
Delhi is a hub for film festivals. The government as well as private organizations arrange these festivals. While most of these festivals have free entry, prior passes may have to be collected. The National Museum at Janpath is a treasure trove of relics covering about 5000 years of Indian history. Nearby Central Secretariat or Udyog Bhawan metro stations
A stay at Neemrana Fort Palace is an indulgence. Its proximity to Delhi encouraged us to try it out. Its like a Staycation where most of the activities are in or around the fort. While one can visit the fort as part of a day trip, spending the night here completes the experience.
Comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood of ‘Whose line is it anyway’ fame are touring India thanks to Black Dog Easy Evenings. They performed in Gurgaon last Sunday and we are most tickled to be there.
