Christmas Cake Mixing at ITC Maurya Delhi

Nov 19, 2018 | Eating out, Food

Date: 14th Nov 2018
Venue: ITC Maurya, Delhi

It is that time of the year. We are barely recovering from Diwali and it is almost Christmas! We have been getting a catena of invites for cake mixing ceremony.

We recently attended a cute one at ITC Maurya. Mixing (read messing around) rum, port and a host of other liqueur with n number of dry fruits we can’t even name was a lot of fun. True to our experience at ITC’s Fabelle confectionary style they had added a host of Indian aromatic spices as well and we could clearly identify fennel (saunf) in the mixture. This mix is fermented for more than a month and thereafter used in making rich plum cakes. From what we saw, the cakes are going to turn out divine!

The cake mixing ceremony was followed by cocktail and the canapés were expanded to include bakery such as cup cakes, tarts and rum balls. The chocolate coated rum balls had a very strong flavour enhanced again with fennel.  We ordered a SUNBEAN cappuccino to do justice to this ball of heaven in the mouth.

The event was smooth and fuss free. We bumped into some old friends and the cake mixing ceremony became a long pending catching up session. The excellent guitarist here, donning a cute Santa hat, played old numbers and there was a lot of nostalgia in the air. That is exactly how the Christmas – New Year season should be we say. Wish you good people loads of peace and festive cheer this season.

It’s interesting to see mince pies on the table. I actually remember bringing some from England to an Indian friend of mine, a few years ago, when I visited India for the second time.
