As bloggers we keep looking for content. During one such expedition we reached Cravity, a café cum bakery at Hauz Khas market (mind you – not HKV). Grapevine had it that desserts are their specialty and the Punjabi-Bengali sweet-tooth multiplied by two was all excited to try this place.

It’s a cozy place, understated décor with a painting of Eiffel Tower that we loved. We reached at dinner time and stuck to the entrée – main course – coffee and dessert routine. Among the starters, we would definitely recommend the Cheese and Spinach Bruschetta. It is a beautiful balance of cheese – greens- carbs and doesn’t kill the appetite for the main course. We also had their sweet French Toasts. In combo with maple syrup, home style whipped cream and crunchy peanut butter, this dish was soul food.

For main course we had Khao Suey, the South East Asian pot dish that is Delhi has just discovered. The Khao Suey was a little thick we thought but anything cooked in coconut milk gets a thumbs-up from us. The other item was chicken breast cooked in White Wine. Now this is a must try. The chicken breast stuffed with cheese and God-knows-what seasoning served in gravy was rich yet soothing and fresh.  The ‘tasteful’ plating (yea that’s pun) was an Instagrammer’s delight.

It was dessert time finally. We looked at the items from their dream like dessert case. Almost all the pieces looked tempting but we exercised some restraint. We chose Nutella Millie Feuille and Prince of Chocolate ganache. Both the items were top notch. The flavours of Nutella and the custard were beautifully blended with the crispy pastry in the Millie Feuille and made it very apt after a full meal. Prince of Chocolate was like a ganache – soft – almost silky inside and the divine flavour was fusion of chocolate and butter.

We were also tempted by the macaroons and tried Rose and Laphroig flavours. The Laphroig whiskey flavour lingered for a while in the mouth. Alongside we ordered latte and Ethiopian coffee. This variety is a bit strong and the caffeine kick could stimulate an insomniac trait for a week. The latte was just right and is great for anybody who wants a finishing coffee.

It was a great experience. Quality ingredients, balanced cooking style and pleasant ambience. The best part was that there was no post-heavy-meal bloatiness. Their salads looked great too. In fact, we may just do a salad-dessert round at Cravity next time round and keep you posted.
