Delhi Times Fashion Week 2018

Sep 29, 2018 | Fashion

Date: 22-24 September 2018
Venue: Roseate House, Aerocity

Come September it is raining events in Delhi NCR. We want to cover everything and yet there are times we just got to pick and choose. Last week we got an invite from Delhi Times Fashion Week at Roseate House, Aerocity.  The lineup for this sartorial extravaganza by Times of India group was impressive. We just had to do it.

Ace designer Ritu Beri opened the show. Her theme was Khadi India. Given that Gandhi Jayanti was around the corner, her collection celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of the Mahatma. She did an exciting collection combining Khadi and forms of embellishments – zardozi and leather patches that are typically non Khadi. The collection was edgy and it was fun to see many kids walk the ramp. In fact one of them, dressed like Gandhiji, led the show stoppers. And a word about them too – the show stoppers were not ramp models. They were politicians – our speaker Meenakshi Lekhi, Governor of Manipur Dr. Najma Heptullah and Italian ambassador Daniele Mancini. The black-red theme they wore set the stage ablaze.

We also watched the next show by Apparel Training and Design Centre. Their clothes were grounded. There was generous use of eco-friendly fabrics such as Ikat and Khadi in this show. The students threw many surprises. They made larger than life accessories – big belts, quirky ribbon necklaces and arty tiaras. Oh how could we forget the Dokra buckle on the belt? But there was an inherent sense of sincerity in the collection that bound everything together. Their show stopper was Shreya Rao Kamavarapu, FBB Colors Femina Miss India 2018 Second Runner Up and she stood out in all bling. Quite like Delhi weddings.

We had covered Amazon Fashion Week and Ambience Fashion Weekend written about that. This fashion show was different. Wearable fashion is the new trend and that was evident in the two of the shows we saw. Also, music was the high point of both the shows. From Indian to fusion Asian, it added to the spunk on the ramp.

It was a very well organised event and Roseate House played the perfect host. We wanted to watch the whole show. But then, it was a busy evening for us and we had to leave for the next event. Nonetheless, all the razmatazz, the glamour and the action of the Delhi Times Fashion Week kept us heady throughout the weekend.

Attending this kind of show is more fun if you have with your friends, camera, and then some sort of point system where you judge who is the best among the rest. Glad to see this on your post. Keep posting.
