A Moment in Modernity – Solo Exhibition by Haren Thakur in New Delhi
Experience a rare blend of tribal tradition and modernist vision through the works of acclaimed Jharkhand-based artist, Haren Thakur.
Art Magnum and Gallery Time and Space present “A Moment in Modernity”, a major solo exhibition featuring the visionary artworks of Haren Thakur, curated by renowned art historian Dr. Alka Pande.
A modernist deeply rooted in the traditions of tribal India, Haren Thakur bridges indigenous art forms with contemporary aesthetics. Educated at Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University (Shantiniketan), his mentors include Indian art legends like Ramkinkar Baij, Benode Behari Mukherjee, and Somnath Hore.
Thakur’s paintings reflect the spiritual connection between man and nature, often using Nepalese Lokta paper and fluid brushwork that evokes tribal rhythms and cultural memory. His work resonates with themes like rural harmony, ecological awareness, and Eastern Indian visual heritage.
