Aadyam Theatre Brings ‘Belly of the Beast’ to Delhi

Aadyam Theatre, the acclaimed theatre initiative by the Aditya Birla Group, returns to Delhi with its Season 8 production, Belly of the Beast—a powerful and thought-provoking play that explores the many dimensions of motherhood through a blend of storytelling, music, visual theatre, and dark humour.

Directed by Sheena Khalid and co-written by Kalki Koechlin, the production draws inspiration from Elephant in the Womb and unfolds through five interconnected stories that delve into the emotional, psychological, and transformative realities of motherhood. Rather than offering a singular perspective, the play presents a nuanced exploration of identity, expectations, vulnerability, resilience, and change.

The production combines shadow puppetry, live music, and contemporary theatre techniques to create a visually rich and immersive experience. At its centre is a stellar cast led by Kalki Koechlin, joined by Kettan Singh, Amba-Suhasini K. Jhala, Rachel D’Souza, Shanaya Rafaat, and Shruti Vyas.

Known for championing original and contemporary Indian theatre, Aadyam Theatre continues its tradition of presenting compelling stories that spark conversation while pushing the boundaries of stagecraft. Belly of the Beast promises to be an engaging experience for theatre lovers and audiences interested in powerful human stories.
