Between Dust and Distant Skies: Solo Art Exhibition
Between Dust and Distant Skies is a solo exhibition by Sri Lankan multidisciplinary artist Pradeep Thalawatta, curated by Rahul Kumar and presented at LATITUDE 28 in Defence Colony.
The exhibition brings together works that explore how images of conflict, migration, childhood and everyday life move across different forms of media and become embedded in our personal memories and emotional landscapes.
Working across photography, drawing, video, performance, installation and painting, Thalawatta uses materials such as used sandpaper collected from construction sites, tar, wrapping paper, children’s stickers, toys and storybooks. Through processes of erasure, folding, layering and concealment, these materials become a way of looking at memory as something that is constantly layered, edited and reshaped.
The exhibition brings domestic and geopolitical imagery into conversation, placing childhood memories, news photographs, art-historical references and popular visual culture alongside one another.
