The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) and the Italian Cultural Centre proudly present a historic art exhibition featuring Caravaggio’s masterpiece, Mary Magdalene in Ecstasy. This first-ever Caravaggio showcase in India offers a rare opportunity to witness the genius of one of the most influential Baroque painters.
The exhibition will highlight Mary Magdalene in Ecstasy, a painting long believed to be lost but rediscovered in 2014. Created around 1606, during Caravaggio’s exile, the artwork showcases his dramatic chiaroscuro technique, which revolutionized Baroque art.
To enrich visitor engagement, the exhibition will feature:
Documentary Screenings – Exploring Caravaggio’s life and artistic impact
Virtual Reality (VR) Experience – A deep dive into his world
Curated Discussions & Educational Programs – Understanding Caravaggio’s legacy
The exhibition coincides with the visit of Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani and Minister for University & Research Anna Maria Bernini, marking a significant moment in India’s engagement with European Classical Art.
Kiran Nadar, Founder & Chairperson of KNMA, expressed:
This exhibition aligns with KNMA’s vision to foster cross-cultural artistic dialogue, offering Indian audiences an unprecedented chance to engage with Caravaggio’s legacy.
