Ghashiram Kotwal – Movie Screening at IHC

Don’t miss the screening of Ghashiram Kotwal, a classic Marathi film (with English subtitles) directed by the Yukt Film Cooperative Society. Released in 1976, this stylized adaptation of Vijay Tendulkar’s famous play portrays the final years of the crumbling Peshwa empire. With powerful performances by Om Puri, Mohan Agashe, and Tom Alter, and music composed by Bhaskar Chandavarkar, this film is a tribute to Marathi musical and performing arts traditions.
This landmark film was the first production by the Yukt Film Cooperative, a collective of graduates from the Film and Television Institute of India. Join us for an insightful cinematic experience that merges history, politics, and artistry.
