The GI Mahotsav 2025, a 3-day exhibition and conference, aims to raise awareness about Geographical Indications (GI) and their significance in preserving India’s cultural and traditional heritage. With the support of the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India, this event will highlight the uniqueness of handicrafts, agricultural products, food items, and regional specialties from across India.
What is GI & Why Does it Matter?
Geographical Indication (GI) is an intellectual property right that certifies products originating from a specific location, ensuring their authenticity, quality, and unique characteristics. As of March 2024, India has 635 registered GI-tagged products, with the government targeting 10,000 GI registrations by 2030.
