Qawwali performance showcasing the long-standing oral traditions of the Mewati way of life by Jumme Khan, a Jogi /folk poet from Pinan village in Alwar, Rajasthan, and his band of musicians. Followed by a performance by Himalimou, a band of folk musicians from Kumaon, showcasing several different styles of music from the region.
Rehmat-e-Nusrat, the alter ego of Himalimou, is a group of young, self-trained qawwals who bring a fresh perspective to the timeless musical tradition. The group presents qawwalis by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Sufiyana kalaams by the great poets, Amir Khusrau, Meera Bai, Baba Bulleh Shah, Ghazals, Kabir Bhajans, as well as original compositions.
