In-Rhythm and Inheritors of Earth – Two New Exhibitions in Delhi

The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) opens two new exhibitions in New Delhi on 9 September 2026, bringing together distinct artistic practices that explore our relationship with the world around us.
In-Rhythm: Bice Lazzari and Nasreen Mohamedi
Presented in partnership with the Italian Embassy Cultural Centre in New Delhi and Archivio Bice Lazzari, In-Rhythm brings together the works of Italian artist Bice Lazzari (1900–1981) and Indian artist Nasreen Mohamedi (1937–1990).
Curated by Andrea Anastasio, Director, Italian Cultural Institute in New Delhi, and Roobina Karode, Artistic Director and Chief Curator, KNMA, with assistance from Neha ‘Zooni’ Tickoo, Curator, KNMA, the exhibition explores the striking parallels between two artists who never met or, as far as records indicate, encountered each other’s work.
Across the 1960s, 1970s and early 1980s, both artists developed distinctive approaches to line, repetition, geometry and restraint. Lazzari gradually moved towards lines, grids and subtle fields of colour, while Mohamedi developed an increasingly precise language of pencil, ink and geometric abstraction. The exhibition brings their practices into a direct visual dialogue, while considering the relationship between artistic discipline and the body.
Inheritors of Earth
Curated by Premjish Achari, Inheritors of Earth looks at plant life not simply as a backdrop to human existence, but as a parallel and entangled world with its own rhythms, histories and forms of resilience. Bringing together paintings, photographs, drawings, videos and installations, the exhibition explores themes of growth and decay, rootedness and migration, memory and ecological change.
Together, the works encourage audiences to look with plants rather than merely at them, opening up questions around coexistence, humility and our shared inheritance.
