Khadi: The Fabric of Freedom, The Language of Fashion
Explore the rich heritage of Khadi at Khadi: The Fabric of Freedom, The Language of Fashion, an enlightening exhibition that runs from 19th to 24th October 2024. This immersive experience showcases Khadi’s transformative journey from a tool of resistance during India’s freedom struggle to a contemporary symbol of conscious living and sustainable fashion.
The exhibition features:
- Digitized copies of rare archival photographs documenting Khadi’s historical significance
- Khadi timelines highlighting its evolution
- Loom installations and demonstrations of spinning using various types of charkhas
- Contemporary Khadi designs and innovative works from the Centre of Excellence for Khadi
Curated by: The Centre of Excellence for Khadi, NIFT, Delhi in collaboration with the Ministry of MSME and the Ministry of Textiles. The exhibition is curated by Sunaina Suneja, a textile revivalist dedicated to promoting Khadi and the charkha.
Inauguration: The exhibition will be inaugurated by Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, and Shri K.N. Shrivastava, Director of IIC, on 18th October at 5 PM.
