Mapped by Tide and Time-a solo exhibition
Mapped by Tide and Time, a solo exhibition of works by Vishakha Apte, curated by Ina Puri. The exhibition will first be presented at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai from 14th to 20th April 2026, and will subsequently travel to Gallery Ragini, New Delhi, where it will be on view from 25th April to 30th May 2026.
Bringing together over three decades of practice, the exhibition spans painting, printmaking, paper constructions, and ceramics, offering a comprehensive view of Apte’s deeply process-led and material-driven approach. Her work resists spectacle, instead unfolding as a quiet yet powerful meditation on presence, tactility, and the conditions of being. Moving from early printmaking into layered surfaces and sculptural forms, and later into ceramics, her practice reflects an evolving engagement with material, where form is discovered rather than imposed.
Curated by Ina Puri, the exhibition traces a significant trajectory within Apte’s oeuvre—from fragmented figuration and solitary forms to works that suggest connection, growth, and spatial presence. Rooted in lived experience and shaped by an intimacy with materials, her works invite a slower, more attentive encounter.
