Pūrva Samīra – A Japanese Tribute to Odissi

Experience the grace of Odissi through “Pūrva Samīra – A Japanese Tribute to Odissi”, an evening of classical Indian dance presented by five international artistes. The performance brings together Kaori Naka, Haruko Tanaka, Ayako Sakina, Yukie Satto and Sachiko Murakami, Odissi dancers from Japan and the USA, in a special tribute to this ancient art form.

The production celebrates the spiritual beauty and intricate vocabulary of Odissi, blending refined technique with expressive storytelling. Audiences can look forward to powerful group compositions, delicate abhinaya, and a cross-cultural dialogue that honours India’s classical heritage while highlighting the global reach of Odissi today.
