Saving the Wild (2016/Docu/English and Assamese with English subtitles/25 mins). Dir. Rita Banerji. Winner of four awards, this film captures the challenges faced by the team of wildlife rehabilitators at the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC), operating in one of India’s prime wildlife habitats – Kaziranga, Assam. From Poachers’ Paradise to Ecotourism Hotspot (2017/Docu/English and Odia with English subtitles/15 mins). Poaching was once rife in Mangalajodi, near Chilika Lake, which hosts a myriad of migratory birds each year. While outlining the process of setting up the community-driven Mangalajodi Ecotourism Trust (MET), this short film explores a possible balance between livelihoods and conservation.
