Sohrai & Kohbar Art Workshop

The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), in collaboration with Women’s College Ranchi, proudly presents a Five-day Workshop and Exhibition on Sohrai & Kohbar tribal paintings. Held in remembrance of Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s 125th Death Anniversary, the event celebrates the vibrant folk traditions of Jharkhand’s indigenous communities.
What to Expect:
- Live demonstrations of traditional Sohrai and Kohbar painting
- Hands-on learning sessions with tribal artists
- Exhibition of rare artworks like The Dance of the Twin Peacocks and Garden of Contrasts: Nurture and Deceit
- Cultural insights into Jharkhand’s mural traditions

This immersive cultural event is hosted by the Conservation & Cultural Archives Division, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and aims to revive and showcase rich tribal art heritage.
