Vadehra Art Gallery proudly presents the first-ever solo exhibition in India by renowned Indian-American artist Joya Mukerjee Logue. Titled “those who walk before me,” this exhibition showcases a comprehensive collection of Mukerjee Logue’s decade-long painting practice, featuring approximately thirty new works in oil and watercolor.
About the Exhibition:
- Theme: Mukerjee Logue’s recent paintings delve into the architecture and neighborhood surrounding her paternal ancestral home in Ambala, Haryana. Situated near the bustling bazaar off the old Grand Trunk Road, these works offer a personal exploration of heritage and memory. The artist uses an anthropological lens to reflect on collective experiences and narratives, highlighting the continuity of time, history, and culture through evolving structures and stories.
- Special Event: On Thursday, 29 August 2024, at 6 p.m., Joya Mukerjee Logue will engage in a conversation with Mala Singh—an esteemed author and publisher known for her work on conservation, culture, and traditional skill revivals. This discussion will provide deeper insights into the themes of the exhibition.
