The Friend That I Never Had – Art Exhibition

The Friend That I Never Had, a solo project by Neha Sahai, opening on 7th April and on view until 28th April 2026 at EDGE, LATITUDE 28, New Delhi.

The exhibition brings together a new body of work that explores intimacy, companionship, and the forms of connection that remain unresolved or imagined. Working with a reduced visual language of flattened colour fields, softened contours, and minimal detail, Sahai constructs quiet yet emotionally charged spaces where figures exist in states of proximity without resolution.

Across the paintings, recurring hybrid presences move fluidly between human, animal, and mythic forms. These figures function as emotional carriers of memory, projection, and substitute intimacy, allowing Sahai to build a deeply personal visual vocabulary that sits between autobiography and fiction. Extending beyond the canvas, the artist’s studio becomes part of the exhibition itself, offering viewers an intimate entry point into her process. By bringing the space of making into the gallery, the exhibition situates the works within the lived rhythms of repetition, return, and sustained engagement. The Friend That I Never Had creates a contemplative field where closeness remains partial, meanings unfold gradually, and relationships exist in quiet suspension.
