Two Solo Exhibitions – If We Knew the Point and Magic in the Square

The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art is thrilled to present two distinct exhibitions featuring the works of renowned artists Amitava and Mohan Samant. These exhibitions will stand independently, yet converse through the rich imagery and unique art-making journeys of both artists. Mohan Samant (1924 – 2004) and Amitava (b.1947) represent two generations of creative mastery, offering visitors an immersive artistic experience.

Featured Exhibitions:

1. If We Knew the Point – Amitava: Amitava’s exhibition showcases a variety of styles and mediums, including graphite, ink, ballpoint pens, watercolors, collages, and burnt marks on paper. His work emphasizes the poetics of materiality, creating images that are meant to be experienced rather than rationalized.

2. Magic in the Square – Mohan Samant, Centennial Exhibition: This exhibition celebrates Mohan Samant’s unique artistic practice and pays tribute to his contribution to modern Indian art. A member of the Progressive Artists Group, Samant’s work bridges Eastern and Western traditions, offering a dynamic exploration of his creative legacy.
