Date: 15th Dec 2018
Venue: IHC
The Capital City Minstrels (CCM), perhaps the most popular choir from Delhi NCR comprises of people from all walks of life. Musicians, university students, professionals of all ages, housewives and so on form the group. They come together for their common love for music and have already performed 100s of shows world over.
They are back with their Winter Concerts and we attended their first performance from the series “Peace – The Sound of Christmas” at India Habitat Centre recently. A set of 12 songs and carols, the performance was well in sync with the Christmas vibe. “Sing Alleluia, Clap your hands” included synchronised claps along with the vocals and music. The song was a showstopper and an absolute encore worthy performance.
But what’s Christmas without carols? So they also sang some popular carols. We loved “We’re going up to Bethlehem”, and the king of all Christmas song, the classic that we have learnt since school days, “Silent Night”. This so completed the experience for us.
The concert was ably conducted by musician, composer and director Sharmila Banerjee Livingston.
Catch CCM again, this evening, 18th December 2018, at Cathedral Church of the Redemption, 1 Church Road, North Avenue, New Delhi 7 pm. And yeah –it is free entry.
