Inspired By Hope – The CCM Delhi Concert Spreads Pre Christmas Cheer

Dec 21, 2022 | Live Performances, Music

Hope is being able to see that there is light, despite all of the darkness.
Desmond Tutu

The Capital City Minstrels – CCM is one of Delhi NCR’s most well-known chamber choirs. We have been following their performances for a long time. They have always been enjoyable to listen to, and they are high on our list of things to do each year. The pandemic prevented them from holding their concerts during the past years. The longest break in their 28-year career was recently when they performed on stage again after three years.

Inspired By Hope – The Capital City Minstrels Concert

For all of us, the epidemic was difficult. Almost everyone has either lost someone or knows someone who has. Some of us were fortunate, while others had to endure one of the most trying times.

“Inspired By Hope” was an ode to all of us who, despite all odds, kept a strong face in times of adversity and fought the dark times bravely looking forward to better days ahead.

Dressed in Black, gold, and white, the choir performed a list of songs that addressed various human emotions, from sadness to hope, to optimism, to cheer. The able conductor Sharmila B. Livingston and the Pianist Nise Meruno in his very charming attire created a subtle magic on the stage, along with the members of the choir.

The tone was initially sombre but picked up the pace and became more cheerful after the first few songs. The swaying and clapping by the choir members for the song “The storm is passing over” completely changed the mood and uplifted our spirits.

The Junior members of the Choir

The choir members keep changing and new singers keep getting introduced every season. A lovely surprise this year was a group of teenagers joining the choir for a couple of songs. They sang with confident smiles on their faces and added youthful enthusiasm to the concert. We would love to attend a concert with more songs by the junior members of the choir.

The Pre-Christmas Cheer

November is a little too early for Christmas songs, but towards the end, the concert left the audience with a festival vibe and with a positive outlook towards life with songs like “Go, Light your world (candle song)“. We almost felt like switching on our mobile torch to wave with our swaying bodies for this song. It was a befitting end to this beautiful concert that celebrates the passage of the storm and is “Inspired By Hope”.

I haven’t joined any concert like this before. I’m sure this will be better if I can join in real than listening on YouTube.
