There are chocolate events, and then there are experiences that feel straight out of a cocoa fantasy. On World Chocolate Day, we found ourselves at one of the most indulgent and creatively curated chocolate-themed events in Delhi, hosted by none other than Le Méridien New Delhi-one of the city’s finest luxury hotels known for its culinary experiences.
From the moment we entered The Atrium, it was clear this wasn’t just about desserts-it was about storytelling, craftsmanship, and celebrating chocolate’s rich global heritage. With themed décor, interactive chocolate tasting zones, and a beautifully laid out grazing table, the hotel went all out to create a chocolate wonderland in the heart of Delhi.
The Showstopper: A 300-Pound Chocolate Sculpture That Stole the Evening

The highlight of the evening-and rightly so-was the grand unveiling of a jaw-dropping chocolate installation titled “Once Upon a Chocotales.” Crafted by Le Méridien’s award-winning pastry team under the leadership of Chef Davinder Kumar, the sculpture stood 5 feet tall and weighed a staggering 300 pounds, all made from pure couverture chocolate sourced from the globally renowned Casa Luker.

This wasn’t just a dessert display; it was a celebration of imagination and skill. The moment the curtain dropped, the corridor erupted in awe. Phones came out. Cameras clicked. And we stood, quite literally, chocolate-struck.

More Than Just Chocolate: Cheese, Cold Cuts & Cocoa Drinks

While the focus was on chocolate, the event also paid attention to balance. A stunning charcuterie-style grazing table featured everything from artisanal cheeses and cold cuts to olives, dry fruits, dips, and gourmet crackers. It was the kind of spread that made you want to pause, plate up, and savour every bite. Another station featured Indian favourites like vada pav and chicken skewers.

And for those needing a break from the sugar rush? There were chocolate shakes and other drinks that were rich, smooth, and perfect to sip while celebrating this chocolate gala. We also couldn’t help but appreciate the latte art on the coffee-simple details that added so much character to the experience.
A Sweet Nod to Chocolate’s Global Legacy

The event was graced by two very special guests-His Excellency, the Ambassador of Belgium to India, and Her Excellency, the Ambassador of Mexico to India. Their presence added an elegant, global touch, honouring the historic journey of chocolate.

And in keeping with the theme of knowledge and fun, guests participated in a chocolate trivia quiz that tested their chocolate IQ-from origin stories to global varieties. Winners didn’t just walk away with bragging rights-they received special chocolate gift boxes, making it a truly interactive affair.
The Team Behind the Magic

None of this would’ve been possible without the amazing team at Le Méridien New Delhi, who made sure every detail-from invite to execution, was top-notch. It’s clear the hotel is not just serving luxury stays and food, but also curating experiences that leave a lasting impression.
